Louisiana State Police
Lake Charles, LA
On January 10, 2017, 51-year-old Sergeant Tracy Morgan was at work at the Capital One building in Lake Charles. Shortly after 1:00 p.m., Sergeant Morgan collapsed as he walked from the parking garage to the main building. Troopers and medical personnel working in the building administered CPR until Acadian Ambulance arrived. Despite the best efforts of those who came to his aid, Sergeant Morgan was pronounced dead at CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital.
Sergeant Morgan proudly served our country as a U.S. Marine and served as a Lake Charles City Police Officer before becoming a Trooper in 1994. Sergeant Morgan had extensive investigative experience and served as a crisis negotiator.
“He epitomized what it meant to be a Trooper,” said Colonel Mike Edmonson, Louisiana State Police Superintendent. “He will be missed by us all.”
